Getaway

This weekend my mum and I took a trip down to my lovely for a short getaway, and after a year full of stressful events, all I ever want to do at this point in time is escape; staying in one place or doing one thing for too long doesn't occupy my mind and I start to drift into thoughts, which in turn, causes me to worry. It's why I love travelling in the car, it doesn't matter where I'm going, it just settles my mind.
Needless to say I had a wonderful weekend of being spoilt and didn't have a chance to think about much else apart from being in the moment. I spent some time with my mum's boyfriends sons, (attempted) to drive a boat, saw some old family friends and of course, drank prosecco with mum in a cutesy beer garden- because when isn't prosecco the answer?
Above is the lovely inside to Mike's boat... the boat I almost crashed by throwing it into reverse on full power whilst we were floating in a lock (oops). As quirky and interesting the interior to the boat is, I don't think I could live on one or even stay on one for more than a few days, it's very small and the motion sickness is definitely NOT worth it! (Unless you'd be willing to pay me of course).
Friday Night
I went with a friend to go see Legend on Friday night in Leamington, and my god, I recommend you go see Tom Hardy and all his glory as the infamous Kray twins, it was fabulous and who wouldn't be smitten by that gorgeous face of his?

Saturday
As I didn't take my camera with my this weekend, I only had my iphone to try and capture the beauty of the view that you can see from Burton-Dassett hills. I would love to re-visit both with my camera and a bit later in the evening when it gets dark to see the lights of all the cities and villages surrounding the hills- I'm a sucker for lights.
I had a pretty chilled evening with my childhood friend, stuffing our faces with dominoes and watching Straight Outta Compton.

Sunday
After a lazy Sunday morning, I was treated to a Costa before having some alone time with a stroll along the river Avon down to the boat to meet up with Mikey and Jay, where I had the joy of watching them playing Mortal Combat and reverted to my inner child playing with silly string.
Of course a weekend away with my mum wouldn't be complete without our usual mother-daughter prosecco night, where we got more than a little tipsy before meeting up with the (more than sober) guys at spoons after their football game, where we continued to drink prosecco.

Monday
This morning greeted us with spectacular hangovers, bacon and brie sandwiches, caramel lattes and a four hour journey home... where I am currently sipping tea and not looking forward to going back to routine.
